The terrazzo floor in this Marlboro, NY hallway was subject to heavy traffic and use. Old, yellowed wax acted like a dirt magnet. Grit from the bottom of people’s shoes caused thin scratches on what was left of the wax. Over the course of time, the surface of the terrazzo had become very dull and unsightly.
Our terrazzo restoration processes are the same as those used to restore natural stone: grinding, honing, and polishing. We did not just strip and reapply wax, we gave this floor a lasting shine and eliminated the need for future stripping and waxing. Here’s how.
First, we ground the floor, removing a fine layer from the surface of the terrazzo to erase the scratches and signs of wear. Then, we honed and polished the floor using a series of progressively finer grit diamond pads to achieve a beautiful, reflective finish. Now the terrazzo has a clean, inviting appearance.
